A PLACE GREATER THAN SRI RANGAM?
The Chartiram told here, takes back us to the
time, where Swami Koorthazhwan and Periya Nambi (acharyan/guru to Ramanuja),
lose their eye-sight, due to the autocracies of the King Kirumi Kanda Chozan,
and Swamy Ramanuja leaves for Melnadu
(Karnataka).
Koorthazhwan and Periya Nambi, are brought out of
the King’s court by Atthuzhai (daughter of Periya Nambi) and are on the way
travelling to Sri Rangam & reach a place called Gangai konda Choza Puram,
which is a forest way
Periya
Nambi, who was already more than 100 years, developed critical illness, due to
the pain in his eyes which developed infection & puss, so was not able to
sustain, and decides to ascend paramapadham/Vaikuntam (shed mortal coils)
Koorthazhwan and Atthuzhai, panicked & requested
Periya Nambi to sustain for some more time, so that they can reach Sri Rangam,
where Emperumaan is present, Periya
Nambi replies “If adiyen reaches Sri Rangam, and then sheds mortal coils, it
would be setting a wrong example, that those who pass away in divya desams
would get moksham, which is not true, for a person, who is accepted by Acharyan,
in which ever place & time he passes away, Emperumaan out of his mercy,
will grant Moksham”
Saying so Nambi calls upon Koorthazhwan & emotionally says “Swamy Is Sri Rangam,
greater than the lap of Parama Bhagavatha like you”, saying so, Periya Nambi,
lays down keeping his thiruvadi (feet) on his daughter Atthuzhai’s lap and keeps his thirumudi (head) on
Koorthazhwan’s lap and meditates upon his acharyan Swami Aalavandhar and
ascends Paramapadham.
Thus the greatness of Bhagavthas (adiyars to
Emperumaan) is shown through this history,
There is NO TIME PLACE RESTRICTION FOR PRAPANNAS
UPAY & UPEY IS LORD’S MERCY ONLY
